PDF to Excel

Extract the text from a PDF into a real .xlsx spreadsheet file you can open in Excel, in your browser.

Files you choose stay on your device — they are not uploaded to Tools99.

Workspace: 1. Add files2. Ready3. Working4. Done — download

How this workspace works
  1. Choose a PDF file.
  2. Pick text-lines mode or simple-table mode.
  3. Open the .xlsx file in Excel and check the columns before using it.

Simple-table mode works for simple tables only: it recovers columns from where the text sits on the page. Merged cells, multi-line cells, cells spanning columns, rotated text and scanned PDFs are not handled — scanned PDFs need OCR, which this tool does not have. If the table comes out wrong, use the text-lines mode instead and check every column against the original.

Your file never left this device, so there is no server copy to delete. Download again, start over, or continue with a related tool below.

How to use PDF to Excel

A good use for this

Turning a table trapped in a PDF into rows and columns you can sort, filter, and calculate with.

Limits

Only the text is extracted — scanned pages with no text layer yield nothing useful, and complex layouts may not land in neat columns. Simple-table mode recovers columns from text positions for simple tables only; merged cells, multi-line cells, cells spanning columns, rotated text and scanned PDFs are not handled. Always check the spreadsheet against the original.
